A couple purchased this home with the intention of renovating it, adding a first floor, and selling it.
The dwelling had good bones, but was outdated and all was old.
Whole house was gutted and replaced with new finishes. A ground floor addition was done to create an open plan kitchen living dining space.
On first floor, a second living room was added, as well as a bedroom, bathroom and master bedroom with ensuite and walk in robe.
Finishes chosen were simple, designed for universal tastes for easy sale.
The best type of design for the long narrow shape of the site, was to build from one side boundary to another, to maximise internal room widths.
The brief was simple, which included creating an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a small dedicated study room, as well as additional bathrooms and bedrooms.
In the end, the family decided against selling the home, and moved in to enjoy the house for themselves!
